Be introduced to this Silk Painting Masterclass for Fine Artists. You’ll discover Natasha’s own journey into silk painting, the history of this art and go over the materials you’ll need for the upcoming sessions.

Begin to work on the process of silk painting by correctly preparing gutta as well as understanding some of the fine art techniques you’ll be using. Natasha will guide you through working with Gutta, linear underpainting and gutta serti alongside blending and mixing colours.

In the third session of the series you will create a travel inspired still life. Natasha will guide you through the process of transferring the design onto your silk, painting and salting the lemons, painting the lower elements, creating grapes and the dry brush technique. You’ll then learn to create a multi-coloured background, add shadows, leaves and reflections, bubbles and reflections in glasses before finishing up your work with markers.

In this session, you’ll paint your own Venetian Waterway. Discover the process behind this; painting the backgrounds and boats, applying gutta for reflections and shadows, painting houses and reflection, further reflections and shadows, followed by windows, buildings and boat details before completing your project with permanent marker touch ups and analysing your composition.

Master the art of steam fixing your silks and learn Jill Kennedy’s steam fixing methods. Through the lessons in this session you’ll be able to finish and display your work, utilising Jill Kennedy’s fixing methods and display techniques.

Natasha Foucault began her journal as a classically trained oil painter who moved to silk paints in her early 20’s. Travels, photographs and events soon became themes for her work which explore still life, landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes and contemporary art.
Natasha’s works on silk have been exhibited and sold in both museums and commercial galleries throughout the world. Her book, “Silk Diary, An Artist’s Journey from Moscow to Mendocino“, co-authored with Jeanne-Michele Salander, combines a collection of Natasha’s silk art, stories of her life as an artist, and her signature painting techniques is available from Galli Creative.
