Gallery Climate Coalition: Towards a Sustainable Art World
The goal of the Gallery Climate Coalition is to facilitate the decarbonisation of the visual art sector and promote zero-waste practices. This panel discussion focussed on the potential for art to inspire social and ecological change, and the practical measures the art world can take to improve sustainability and lower our collective carbon footprint, based on GCC research and data.
This talk took place on Wednesday 16 March 2022, 4pm GMT as part of London Art Fair's online talks programme. Questions heard within this recording were posed by the live audience during the session.
Louisa Buck is a British art critic and contemporary art correspondent for The Art Newspaper. She was a jurist for the 2005 Turner Prize. She is also an author or co-author of books on contemporary art market.

Heath Lowndes is managing director and cofounder of Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC), which he has led since its launch in October 2020. GCC is an international charity and membership organization set up to provide sector-specific resources and guidelines for environmental sustainability.

Gavin Turk (b 1967) is a British born, international artist. He has pioneered many forms of contemporary British sculpture now taken for granted, including the painted bronze, the waxwork, the recycled art-historical icon and the use of rubbish in art.

Paul Stolper Gallery is a contemporary London art gallery and a leading publisher of contemporary editions. Established in 1998, the gallery works directly with artists to publish limited edition prints and sculptures while also running an exhibition programme in the gallery throughout the year.
