From the very basics of drawing cloth doll faces to sculpting doll heads, Patti covers everything you will need to know and demonstrates the process of making cloth doll faces and heads step by step.
Patti takes the often challenging process of making doll heads, bodies and hands and turns it into a fun and easy project. Follow along with the enclosed pattern + instructions as you learn to stitch the body, make doll heads, hands and bodices and more.

In this introductory session to the series, be guided by Patti to make faces, learn to draw and colour a cloth face and master the skills of adding facial features and highlights.

Elevate the basics you mastered in Session 1 and learn to draw both a flat-face head and a dimensional head. Patti will also guide you to colour the face using Shiva Paintstiks.

Hands can often feel like a daunting task in the doll-making process, but with Patti’s top tips you’ll feel confident to give your doll hands. Master the turning, wiring and stuffing process of fingers & hands, followed by a step-by-step of sculpting the hands.

In Session 4 of the series you’ll take a look at the body of your doll. To begin, you’ll discover the process of sewing the body and head, you will then be guided to make a wire armature and stuff the body. To complete this session you will learn to attach the head to the body.

Having completed Session 4, you will complete making the body for your doll. Patti will develop your skills of sculpting the busy & body, sewing the arms and legs and adding body highlights. You’ll then learn the attach the arms with a wire armature as well as how to select and sew on hair and wigs. You’ll complete this session with appreciation for the doll creations from industry friends.

In the penultimate session of the series, Patti will provide her tips and tricks for direct dyeing the cloth doll body and fabric painting for clothing and shoes. Be guided to create embellished fabrics for arms, bodies and bodices and finally to accessorise your cloth doll with laces, shoes and cuffs.

The final session of the series provides everything you need to know to complete your doll and Patti fills you with inspiration in her discussion of ideas for Cloth Doll Making for your future projects.
