You’ll be introduced to all things Steampunk and create a dress for Alexia, focusing on the direct application of fabric to the body technique. Patti will then guide you to make bucked shoes and how to create the vintage look.

Following on from Session 1, Patti will develop your skills further to enable you to create an elegant hat from silk & craft foam, sew a fancy clutch purse as well as make a lovely water coloured face. You’ll also be introduced to some other inspirational dolls created by friends.

In this session you will develop skills to create the perfect outfit for Bernadette, the provençal doll! Master dispersing dyes and heat transfer of appliqué, bead ball joints, embroider feather stitch with beads and created beaded stamp tattoos and heat set crystal accents.

In addition to your learnings from Session 3, Patti will guide you to create Hats, Handbags & Hat Pins. You’ll also discover the art of a tulle skirt and high heeled shoes as well as learn to use marker pens to create a beautiful face. You’ll complete the session feeling inspired through the works of friends in the industry.

Over the next two sessions you’ll work on Li Mei, a doll inspired by Asian fabrics and literature. In this session, Patti will introduce two ways to drape a gown on the doll’s body alongside how to create and Obi Corset, from sewing fabric tubes for embellishments, to ribbon roses & crystal flowers, and finally putting it all together.

To complete your work from Session 5, Patti will further your knowledge and skillset by preparing you to create a pouch for Li Mei. This will encompass the skills of making a lucet braid and choosing fabrics, sewing a crazy patch pouch and making a pair of lotus-inspired shoes. To complete this session, Patti will discuss the art of organza Faerie Wings and adding embellishments to hair before once again appreciating the inspirational work of friends.

In the final session of the series, you will master the art of presenting your dolls. You will become aware of the considerations to be made when travelling and displaying your dolls and will consider the inspirational presentations seen by doll-making friends.
